If you can't join us on campus when we host official tours and information sessions, you can enjoy an inexpensive campus tour. During your visit, you can take our self-guided virtual tour online, access our interactive campus map, download a printed campus map, or pick up printed copies of our campus map and our self-guided tour booklet from the Explore visitor box. There's more than one way to learn….and there's a lot to learn! We recommend that you explore online through the college website. You can also learn more about student life by reading our student blogs and the profiles of our diversity outreach tour guides and interns. You can find someone from your home country or from another part of the world. Your interests may be similar or very different. Students live in many worlds — academic, artistic, athletic, political, social, and more. Many of their interests overlap, intersect, and diverge in interesting ways. It's common to meet an English major with a passion for physics. Or a basketball player who likes philosophy. Or a computer scientist who plays saxophone and flute and decides to try percussion. Students come in many varieties!

Hi everybody. Hello. My name is Diego. I am a rising junior originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated twice in history and computer science. During the academic year, I was also a tour guide, and I was also in the rugby team of the men's club.

Hi, my name is Alexa and I'm also a sophomore, so I'm in the class of 2023. I don't know what I want to study yet. Maybe biology, maybe psychology, maybe Asian civilizations. I am not convinced. But I'm on the prep track and some of the things I do outside of the academy are being part of a riding club.

Hello everyone, my name is Blake, also in 2023, a sophomore. I am a prospective Asian Language and Civilization major with a minor in Japanese and also a minor in Economics. As I said, I'm an international student and I'm coming to you today live from North Yorkshire, UK.

Proposed 2022 2023 School Year Calendar

How are you. Hi guys, my name is Fiona. I am also a sophomore. I'm originally from Princeton, New Jersey and I like Blake. I also aspire to double major in Economics and Asian Language and Civilization on campus and am involved in our music programs and, like Diego, I am part of our student guides. So this applies to all of us. I think almost all of us are smart students. So we just moved on to college, except for Diego, sorry to miss you. And I'm just wondering how you made Amherst your community and your second home, .I feel like everyone has a really unique experience, but for some reason, I didn't get to visit everything on my accepted student weekend. And I don't know exactly where. And it was really scary because I imagined a small college in the middle of nowhere.

But during Accepted Student Weekend, I was finally able to visit the physical campus. And I was very happy to see that there are many beautiful cities and shopping malls around us. So we're not in the middle of nowhere, and basically our college is in the middle of town, which is a really nice college town. And the advantage of living in a university town is that you have so many different restaurants, shops, places to explore. And for me personally, it's very comforting to find so many ethnic restaurants and, especially, like Asian restaurants, just so I can get food at home to avoid the homesickness. And I'm originally from Princeton, New Jersey, which is also a pretty small college town, and I really feel like it. So everyone made me feel right at home and the transition process was much smoother.

I actually had the opposite experience. So I'm from New York and I was born in the city. I grew up in the city, I'm sure I'll stay in the city for the rest of my life. So I really wanted to go to a college that was out of my comfort zone and experience a different environment. So I know I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere with only one campus and no one else. I enjoy a nice, cool city where you can go out to eat, you can go out and buy cool things, go to museums and movies. So I felt good. And just knowing that there are things on campus for students. And the second thing is that I was really impressed with the beauty of the campus and how nature-oriented it is. This is a cool forest. There are lakes nearby, you know, fresh air and wide open spaces

It doesn't really belong in New York. So I was very happy there, but even though it was a different environment, a small town instead of a big city, the people really relaxed and accepted me, especially there were a lot of them. Activities when you first come in for orientation and throughout your first year to help build those relationships and build a foundation. So the first year experience was really amazing for me. I know that one of the best experiences I had freshman year was the jump trip. I left the campus and I know Diego also left the campus. How was your LEAP journey?

Yes, definitely for me too, I think being around other people going through similar experiences in this new place really helped her feel at home very quickly. So my LEAP journey, as you said, is called Take the Leap. So we've run different trails throughout the area, like the Pioneer Valley region, which is the general geographic area. And I was skeptical at first, I'll admit, I thought it was one of those things where adults tell you, oh, put away your devices and go outside at the end of summer. So I was really skeptical at first. But it turned out to be more similar, because we were all first years in an environment that was new to everyone
