The Bethlehem Area School District Board of Trustees has approved an extension of the collective bargaining agreement with the Bethlehem Education Association.

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Bethlehem School District Board of Trustees on Monday night approved a three-year collective agreement extension with the Bethlehem Education Association.

The contract offers annual salary increases. It starts by adding $2,000 to each cell of the previous year's salary schedule. It then drops to $100 in 2024-2024 and another $100 in the final year. Additionally, the extension payment at each level will increase to $1,100 in 2023-24; $1,150 next year; and $1,200 in the previous year.

The board approved the extension of StudySync English curriculum purchases. The program will again be used by seventh- and eighth-graders at Bruegel, East Hills, Nitschman and Northeast high schools. The extension is for three years until the 2025-2026 academic year. The price shall not exceed $209,040.

In another deal, the board entered into a new agreement with BASD to pay $50,000 annually to the Bethlehem School District Foundation for its director's salary. Since 2019, the school board has hired the executive director as a full-time employee with partial compensation from the foundation. The reason for the new contract is that the foundation now wants to hire a director directly.

With the summer rush approaching, the directors approved a contract for summer catering services. The $210,260 project will provide 24,750 breakfasts and 32,750 lunches at 30 locations between June 13 and August 26.

Another contract approved Monday night creates a contract with the city of Bethlehem for the latter to provide ambulance services at high school football games and all other activities at Liberty and Liberty high schools at an hourly rate of $138.54.

Also at Monday's meeting, the school board approved a lease agreement with the Fountain Hill Community Grocery Partnership to build and operate a food pantry at Fountain Hill Elementary School.
