Tcnj Academic Calendar 2023 – The Office of Graduate Studies is proud to announce that Gabriel Wold '22 is the 2022-2023 Fulbright recipient. He received the English Education Award (ETA) for South Korea. Our office caught up with Gabriela to ask her a few questions about her Fulbright application experience and what she has planned for her time in South Korea.

"When I returned from studying in South Korea last summer, I knew I had to visit the country again to pursue my dream of becoming a Korean-American teacher and writer — and I knew I didn't have the financial means to do it. So." . I remember the Fulbright first-year English study abroad program and I thought about applying for one of the many scholarships for degrees and English. As I explored the possibility of combining both as a senior in Fulbright research, with each article and blog post I read, I felt that my small dream was growing into a larger outcome.

A lot of thought goes into the application process: it's more than just a typical job application, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to think about your reason for looking for a position: study or research on Fulbright.

"For my social work project as a Fulbright scholar, I will start a Spotify podcast interviewing local people about their lives in Korea for listeners at home. On the other hand, I want to share my experience as an immigrant to that country. At every event, I will tell my stories about American life to parents and visitors. I hope to be one step closer to pursuing the Fulbright mission of promoting history and mutual understanding.

Osmond graduated from college in 2009 with a major in women's and gender studies and a concentration in public policy analysis. She has served as Bonnie Watson Coleman's Chief of Staff since 2015. Bonnie Watson Coleman is the U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 12th Congressional District, according to house.gov.

When Osmond entered college, she participated in the Women's Learning and Leadership Program. Being a part of the Women's Learning and Leadership Program gave Osmond a great support system that helped her graduate. The program helped him get an internship.

"When I left TCNJ, I created this support network of women who were very interested and connected and supportive," Osmond said.

Another panelist, McCoy, is the president of the New Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP). According to njpp.org, NJPP is an organization that conducts independent research on important policy issues. McCoy studied sociology in college with a minor in social psychology and graduated in 2009.

McCoy talked about most of his college experience. He was able to do some research under Dr. James Graham's time in the classroom, and humble nature, taught him not to be afraid and to always seize an opportunity when it came.

"Even if you don't have an internship and you don't have a regular job, at least be alert and ready for the opportunities that come. I won't do it again because my calendar is so full, but if someone asks you to do something first, of course you say it," McCoy said.

The third and final candidate, Moran, is now running for Gov. Phil Murphy in the advertising department. He got his first job experience from the Bonner Scholarship program at the university.

As a student, Moran was involved in many activities that kept him busy. He is a member of the debate team, a founder of Sigma Lambda Beta and is on the Bonner Scholarship. Finally in Washington DC.

"Going and having these experiences takes you out of the box and allows you to look in places you've never looked before." You never know what opportunities will come your way," Moran said.

Roshni Raji, a current student of the university, which is part of SG, was sworn in as SG's new president in May. Raji has been involved in SG since the spring of 2019 and many encouraging and supportive friends convinced him to join as an ambassador.

"When I joined, I fell in love with the team and what they were doing and I ended up sticking with it," Raji said.

He's not sure what he plans to pursue in the future, but he knows he wants to be involved in some level of public service.
