Umw Calendar Spring 2023 – The following collection of notices, reminders, and instructions were distributed via email to UMW CIM users during the first few weeks of the new system experience. This page is intended to act as an FAQ type resource.

CIM approvers can make changes to the proposal during the workflow, and the changes are identified separately from the content developed by the person who initiated the proposal. The edit function should be used to correct minor errors in the proposal or to make any minor changes that the approver has discussed with the proposer (or any of the previous approvers). Doing so will move the proposal forward.

Reversal should be used if there are major deficiencies or errors in the proposal. This should be used for cases where the judges cannot approve the proposal in its current form and moderate changes are not applicable. This action is used in cases where an approver feels that the proposal should be reconsidered.

Also note that returning a proposal to the person who initiated the proposal removes the proposal from the workflow and may void any previous approvals.

These curriculum reform process documents (adopted by the University Faculty Council in spring 2012) apply to "accelerated curriculum proposals":

An email will be sent to all full-time faculty if there are courses on the 10-day waiting list. All full-time faculty can see what is currently on the list at any time by logging into the CIM Courses website and selecting the 10-day wait option from the "Quick Links" selection box.

The New Program form box for "Program Code" is not outlined in red, meaning it is not a required field. The Office of the Registrar will issue a program code after the proposal has completed all stages of the approval process.

CAS users must use their department as the department selection, as all IDIS courses require a department home. COB and COE users should use general business and education options as home sections. Department is a required flag field so all course proposals must have this option entered for everything to work as intended.

If the course proposal requires a course number change, remember to submit a program change proposal for each program affected by the number change.

A part of the CIM course form (the part that says "Catalog pages that refer to this course") is known as the "Ecosystem". This represents all programs where curriculum replacement is deployed as part of the program requirements. For example:

To change the number, simply type the new number in the Course Number box where the current number is. Be sure to check the numbers in use to see which numbers are in use and therefore not free. In the Justification box, state that you changed the course number and explain why you changed the number.

The proposed number change will show itself in the green/red mark, showing the change for all to see. For example, REK 151 (new number) REK 101 (old number).

In the example above, note all programs that use ACCT 101 as part of the program requirements. If that course number changes, it will affect all programs. If the ACCT 101 course number is changed,

Change course. CIM will only suggest using the new number in the course selection box when you change the course listings in the program.

The appointment form has a box for the title and a required field. The easiest thing to do here is the course number or course number and short title (or course title if that's what the discipline says). (Summer Science Institute), the UMW College of Arts and Sciences has announced its new program for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSSSI) students starting in the summer of 2022.

The program, which takes place during the first summer semester (May/June), gives students the opportunity to work with a teacher mentor on different projects in small teams of 2-4 students. During the program, students receive a small stipend, as well as room and board to live and work on campus.
