The first day of the 2022-2023 school year will be August 22 based on state law guidelines. The calendar was developed in fall 2021 by a committee of teachers, parents, community members and staff, according to a district press release.

Lone Star College-Cyphere opened its library to the public for tours, allowing them to learn about the space and win prizes.

The Call to Your Library Program returns to LSC-Cypher Library Jan. 24-27, Jan. 31-Feb. 3 and February 7-10. Librarian-led tours will be 30 minutes or less and no registration is required. Participants can meet near the entrance to the LSC-Cyphere Technology Building and have a chance to win.

"These three-week introductory tours are provided to help reduce barriers of library anxiety for students and community patrons," reference librarian Liz Nebecker said in a college press release. "Includes library resources and service visits available to support the success of classroom and community projects. Come and learn 'where to do what' at the library and meet our librarians who are 'expert resources' here to serve you."

Franklin Sampson, Cy-Fair ISD's director of guidance and counseling, was elected vice president of the Lone Star State School Counselors Association of Counseling Teachers.
"This will be a great opportunity and opportunity for me to continue giving back to others," Sampson said in a press release. "I have made it a part of my daily mission to do whatever I can to impact someone's life. Serving in this way will help take our organization to greater heights. At the Cy-Fair ISD 19th CFISD Invitational Jan. 7-8, 18 wrestlers won medals, including two individual championships.
Cypress Ranch High School girls wrestling finished as the top-ranked CFISD school, while Cyranch's boys finished highest among all CFISD teams in the boys competition.

Kahala Middle School students and staff organized the Bears for Blue Drive, collecting new and used stuffed animals for the CFISD Police Department and other police departments.

According to a district press release, 160 stuffed animals were collected and will be given to needy children.

The campaign was planned by classroom paraprofessionals, including Kelsey Jackson and secretary Dolores Fraller, as an opportunity for students to help others. The campaign started on January 5 and ended on January 13.
"It was a service project that gave back to the community," Jackson said. "I've talked to some economically disadvantaged kids and it's great to hear them talk about giving their stuffed animals to someone else. They get something in return, but it's not tangible. It's a good act of service." does."
