Aacps 2023 Calendar
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – There's still plenty of summer vacation left, but families may want to look forward to the upcoming academic calendar. Here are some important dates for Anne Arundel County Public Schools during the 2022-2023 school year.
New Start Times Coming Fall 2022
The first day of school: classes 1 to 5, 6 and 9 is on Monday, August. 29. The rest of the year starts classes on Tuesday, Aug. 30. ECI, Pre-K and Kindergarten have been moved for the first time from Monday 8/8. 29. until Wednesday, Sept. 7. These disclosures are published in this link.
Thanksgiving Break: The last day of class break is Friday, November 18th. Thanksgiving holiday starts on Saturday, November 19 and ends on Sunday, November 27. Students will not return until Monday, November 28th.
Winter Break: The last day of school before winter break is Thursday, December 22nd. The school will be closed from Friday 23 December to Sunday 1 January 2023. Classes will resume on Monday 2 January 2023.
Later Start Time At Anne Arundel Co. Schools Next Year
Spring Break: The last day of school before the spring break is Friday, March 31, 2023. The break begins on Saturday, April 1, 2023 and ends on Monday, April 10, 2023. Students return on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
Deadline for other students: All other students will graduate on Friday 16 June 2023.
There will be no afternoon ECI or pre-K on most days which is two hours before dismissal. The only exceptions are Thursday, June 15, 2023 and Friday, June 16, 2023. There will be no ECI and pre-K half days. on this day.
Spring Break Week 2022 Off 62%
Classes will begin two hours later on Thursday, March 2, 2023 for a parent-teacher conference. The school will be closed on June 20, 2022 in observance of June 2022, and students and staff will be dismissed for medical reasons beginning on December 23, 2021. The change was approved by the district's school board last week.
June is celebrated on June 19, which is a Sunday this school year, so the board decided to recognize it tomorrow. The school year will end on Wednesday, June 22, with a two-hour early dismissal on June 21 and June 22.
Back To School: Anne Arundel County Public Schools 2022 2023 Calendar
The board also asked Superintendent of Schools George Arlott to consider closing the entire system on May 3, 2022. That day has been closed to students while staff will continue professional development at the school, according to a press release.

The Anne Arundel County School Board will vote on the final calendar of the 2022-23 school year at its first meeting of the new year, and unlike the originally planned election plan it is possible. will include a day of rest on April 21, 2023, the beginning of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

"Above all, we ask for the same opportunity. The same opportunity for Muslim children to celebrate a special day of their faith and culture with their families, and the same opportunity to do it without sacrificing school time."
Rudwan Abu-rumman, president of the Muslim Council of Anne Arundel, also spoke about the day off for students.
Youth Engagement Opportunities With Anne Arundel County
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the date of celebration varies according to the lunar calendar. This is celebrated from sunset to sunset the next day. In 2022, Eid al-Fitr will begin at sunset on May 2nd and end at sunset on May 3rd. School is closed on Tuesday due to the May 3 holiday.
In 2023, Eid al-Fitr will begin at sunset on Friday, April 21, and end at sunset on Saturday, April 22, when schools will be closed.
Both calendar options reviewed by the Board of Education for the 2022-23 school year on Wednesday recognize the holiday and rule that school-sponsored events cannot be held before sundown before the day is held, but do not provide a day off. Time off from school is provided during Christmas as part of the winter holidays, although this holiday also falls on a weekend.
Aacps Healthier School Hours
District 5 Representative Dana Schallheim made a motion to change one of the calendar elections so that April 21, 2023 would be Eid al-Fitr and the school year would be extended by one day, to June 16.
When the calendar was discussed on Wednesday, the final version had not been adopted. The two options are considered Wednesday when school starts before the Labor Day holiday, and students return in August. 29, 2022.
Earlier this year, the board approved a measure that gives the calendar committee, which breaks the academic year, guidance on Labor Day.

District 7 Rep. Michelle Corkadel made a motion that passed 6:1, moving the consideration of the 2022-2023 calendar to the January 5 meeting. Classes will begin at 8:30. at all high schools, 9:15 a.m. all secondary schools and between 8 and 8:30 a.m. of all elementary schools completed next year according to the first RPP that was published today.
Aacps Announces Last Day Of School For Students, Teachers
The plan essentially implements a plan adopted by the school board earlier this school year to address early school health concerns and student dismissals when classes begin in August. There may be some small changes to start and layoff times over the next few months due to traffic issues, road construction or other issues.
"Even if there is a small shift in school hours, it is important to provide this information now so that families, staff and the community can begin making the necessary changes in their lives," said Superintendent George Arlotto. "The change in class times will create a healthier environment for all of our students, but it's also a big change that families, staff and the community will have to adjust to."

Albert Adams, Phoenix Academy, and North and South Applied Technology Centers can also be found on the above page. School hours for contract and charter schools that provide their own transportation are set by these schools.

Information about preschools, ECI, assessment programs and extended day programs will be added to the site at a later date.
Prismatic Services, Inc., with whom the board has contracted to provide services in the student transportation system, is still working with Anne Arundel County Public Schools staff to finalize bus stop times and locations. That time and location will be announced later this year.
