When choosing a directory year, you can choose the directory that was in use when you started school, or the directory you selected when you graduated no more than six or eight years ago. Since the requirements have changed over the years, you need to consider your options and know which directory to follow. The table below shows the catalog you can use based on the date of access.

Note that the default is used for the directory in the first calendar year of entry. For example, 2017 refers to the 2017-2018 catalog.

Thank you for your interest in the Dietetic Internship at New Mexico State University. Our program combines dietetic experience with a graduate program leading to a master's degree in family and consumer sciences. Upon successful completion of the Master's Degree + Dietetic Internship, the student may take the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian/Dietetician (RD/RDN). According to the Dietetic Registration Commission, "Beginning January 1, 2024, the degree requirement will be the minimum degree requirement for those seeking to sit for the Dietitian Registration Examination."

Our combined Master's Degree + Dietetic Internship program includes a VR NMSU campus and a private virtual reality (VR) dietetics curriculum, including a private VR dietetics simulation lab (Fall 2022).

Our program offers graduate-level coursework and a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised training in clinical dietetics, catering, and food service management.

In addition, nutritionist interns accepted into the program will have the unique opportunity to work with NMSU Cooperative Extension Service professionals to provide public nutrition programs at the state and county level and develop materials that Cooperative Extension Service can use statewide. . Experience includes community needs assessment, program development, and program delivery.

Regardless of the payment plan, students apply for financial aid in Canada or on a Canadian transfer campus.
